Who We Serve
Where are your clients located? We serve dogs from New York City and surrounding areas, including parts of Westchester, Long Island, and Connecticut.
We offer:
• Door-to-door transport in NYC
• Designated pickup points outside the city
• Custom transportation options upon request
I live outside this area—can my dog still attend?
At this time, we are unable to accommodate dogs living out-of-state or in full-time upstate residences. We prioritize pups without daily access to outdoor play and nature.
Is Far Fetched Acres a good fit for my dog?
Camp is best for dogs who enjoy being part of a social, active, and interactive environment. If your dog:
• Thrives in off-leash play
• Enjoys human interaction and light handling
• Has a consistent track record of socialization with dogs
They’ll likely thrive here!
However, we may not be the right match if your dog:
• Is nervous around new people and prefers not to be handled
• Does not have regular positive experiences with other dogs
• Is in heat or about to enter a heat cycle
We’re deeply committed to every camper’s emotional and physical well-being, and not every dog is a match for our high-energy, high-care community.
My dog is over 10 years old. Can they still attend?
We work with senior dogs who’ve been with us through their younger years and have an established camp history. Unfortunately, we cannot onboard new senior campers over age 10.
Booking & Policies
When are pickup and drop-off days?
Our complimentary NYC transport runs:
• Pickup/Drop-off: Mondays & Thursdays, between 11:00 AM–3:00 PM
We assign a 1-hour window in advance. If you require a specific time or a weekend/holiday transfer, we offer custom transport for an additional fee.
How do I book a stay for my dog?
• New campers: Visit our New Camper Registration page to schedule a trial visit.
• Returning campers: Book through Gingr here.
We recommend booking with as much notice as possible:
• Off-peak periods: At least 72 hours in advance
• Peak periods (holidays, school breaks): As far in advance as possible
These times fill up fast, so early booking is best!
What is a Trial Visit?
All new campers complete a 3-day Trial Visit (Monday evening through Thursday morning during off-peak weeks). This helps us:
• Learn your dog’s play style, preferences, and needs
• Integrate them into our routine gently and gradually
• Ensure a happy, safe, and confident stay for future visits
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A 50% deposit is required upon booking to secure your reservation. The remaining balance is due at checkout. Deposits are also required to schedule transportation.
What’s your cancellation policy?
Off-Peak Periods:
• 14+ days before check-in: Full deposit refunded
• 7–13 days: Deposit credited toward future booking
• <7 days: Deposit forfeited
Peak & High-Peak Periods:
• 30+ days before check-in: Full deposit refunded
• 21–30 days: Deposit credited
• <21 days: Deposit forfeited
Why does Far Fetched Acres recommend regular visits?
At Far Fetched Acres, our campers are like family. The more frequently we see your dog, the better we get to know their unique personality, needs, and quirks—which allows us to provide the absolute best care. Consider camp your dog’s home away from home.
We highly encourage quarterly visits to maintain a strong relationship and ensure your dog continues to feel confident and relaxed in our environment. We also re-evaluate every camper at each stay—especially during key developmental stages—to make sure they’re thriving in the group and adjusting well as they grow and change
HEALTH & SAFETY
Should I be concerned about fleas, ticks, or internal parasites?
Because we’re located in Upstate NY, dogs have regular outdoor exposure. Fleas, ticks, and internal parasites like giardia are part of the natural environment. Please ensure your dog is current on preventative care and vaccinations. This helps us maintain a high standard of health across all our campers.
What if my dog needs medical care while at camp?
We do full-body health checks daily and work with a trusted local veterinary team. If anything seems off, you’ll be contacted immediately. In the rare event of an emergency, your dog’s well-being is our top priority, and we’ll act swiftly and responsibly.
STAYING CONNECTED
How can I check in on my dog while they’re at camp?
We post daily photos of our campers on Snapfish and Instagram @farfetchedacres. We recommend following along to share in the fun and see your pup in action.
